The goals of the presentations and workshops are to:
- Explore basic cultural sensitivity concepts (culture, ethnocentrism, discrimination, racism, stereotype);
- Understand the immigrant experience (immigrants, refugees, culture shock); and,
- Examine issues important to participants (determined in advance or during the presentation).
The presence of newcomers in our province is growing. As a result, many organizations and companies are looking for ways to understand cross-cultural issues while supporting newcomer integration. The Association for New Canadians has developed Cultural Sensitivity Presentations and Workshops that are available to interested groups for a nominal fee.
