Gros Morne Youth Camping Trip
Gros Morne
The Association for New Canadians partnered with Parks Canada for a Youth Summer Camping Trip to Gros Morne National Park. The project was entitled: First Contact, Lasting Connection: Opening the door to Canada's National Parks.

The goal of the project was to introduce newcomer youth to the national parks, their conservation mandates, and natural heritage experiences.

In August 2006, the group of twenty-three traveled to Gros Morne from St. John's with two senior staff members and two junior counselors. They enjoyed campfires, swimming, hiking, canoeing, and a boat tour. The trip created an opportunity for the youth to experience a National Park for the very first time since moving to Canada, as well as, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
