While visiting The Rooms,Executive Director Bridget Foster and five students from the ANC language school were invited to join Her Honour Michaelle Jean and Premier Williams for the occasion.

LINC teachers Lorraine Angelopoulas, Frank Gough and Jerry Baird, along with a number of students from the school also had the opportunity to meet the Governor General and Mr. Lafond at the annual Garden Party in the Presence of His Honour the Honourable Edward Roberts, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland, and Her Honour Eve Roberts on the grounds of Government House. One student in particular, Ali Awaw from Sudan, was delighted when Her Honour engaged in private conversation with her for a few minutes.

Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond, with their daughter Marie-Éden, conducted their first official visit to Newfoundland and Labrador from July 6th to the 11th, 2006.
