The Mentoring for Employment program, known as Mentoring Link assists internationally-trained professionals in their quest for knowledge of the Canadian workplace and helps in their search for relevant employment in the St. John’s area.
The objective is to match newcomers with volunteer mentors working in their fields of expertise who would support and guide these individuals as they conduct their job search and prepare to enter the labour market.
A mentoring handbook and resources have been developed to assist mentors and mentees through this process.

"The
mentoring program is a very good program. It has provided me with a good
network of people who are already involved in the Canadian labour market
and it has helped me gain a lot of Canadian experience. I am confident
that with this experience and network of contacts I will be in a position
to get a job"

"The
mentoring program at Husky Energy was a really good opportunity to help me
enter my field and encouraged me to search for jobs. This time helping out
at a Canadian company improved my understanding of Canadian work
culture."
