Volunteer Screening process
The Association for New Canadians has a standard volunteer screening process in place for to ensure that individuals are placed within the most suitable program. This is in the best interests of our clients, students, staff, volunteers themselves, and the community. The screening process has been devised from the guidelines set out by The National Education Campaign on Screening Volunteers and Employees in Positions of Trust with Children and other Vulnerable Clients.
Our screening process includes the following:
- Three character references.
- A Certificate of Conduct from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (Please note that a letter will be provided to waive any cost associated for volunteers who wish to obtain this documentation).
- An informal interview to discuss interests and needs.
- A Volunteer Orientation/Training Session.
