- Limited, basic interpretation and translation services to facilitate a newcomer's independence until they can learn English at a level sufficient to communicate on their own.
- Follow-up or additional referrals to community resources that may not have been necessary in the early stages of immigration, including referral to the provincial income support program at the end of their eligibility for federal income support.
- Employment related services.
- Other services as required.
Integration is an ongoing process and is influenced by a variety of factors. In order to support the integration process and address barriers, the Association has developed a number of programs, activities and initiatives. These range from access to an on-site social worker and support groups, to capacity building efforts, research and strategic employment support measures.
The RAP and ISAP programs are traditionally provided over the period of one year, but can extend to a maximum of three years. The duration of the newcomer's program will be decided overseas when the newcomer first applies for resettlement in Canada.
The ISAP program is meant to supplement the Resettlement Assistance Program, and includes any support services that are offered to a newcomer in order to assist the person integrate into his/her new community. Some examples of the supplemental services include:
